Best Insurance for Retirees in Thailand?

+1 vote

Couple retiring in 2020 when their ages will be 63 and 66. We plan to self insure but would also be interested in a policy that would cover if a large medical issue should crop up. Is there this kind of policy and at our ages will it be available? Is there an age at which we would not be able to keep the insurance? If we have an issue in one year does that mean we can continue the next year?

My main goal is to protect our retirement. I don't expect any issues but then we are also getting older so things do happen over time.

There are a few plans that would accept new applications for 63 years old although for 66-70 there is only 1 insurance that accepts new applications.

Each insurance company is different, there are some that only cover you until 70 years old, there are some that cover you until 90 years old and there are some that have lifetime renewal. It depends on which insurance or policy you choose.
